Franklin-Portland Gateway Phase III -The Wellstone

Located at the NE corner of the intersection, Phase III is slated to begin construction in 2007.  The development will feature 49 units of mixed-income housing (50% affordable to families earning 50% or below of the area median income).  The Wellstone will have 7,100 square feet of commercial space at street level that will include a restaurant.

 Green features

 The Wellstone will be the first of Hope's buildings to incorporate a significant number of green features. We are honored to be receiving funding from the Green Communities initiative, which is sponsored by the Family Housing Fund, the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, and Enterprise. We have received a total of over $280,000 in Green Communities and other green funding for this project.

The Wellstone will feature an array of green and sustainable features for the benefit of residents and the community:

• Project on grayfield site  – presently an abandoned gas station
• Energy Star appliances, including more efficient front-loading washing machines
• Native landscaping and high-efficiency bubbler-type irrigation system
• Solar domestic hot water system
• Increased efficiency of public heating HVAC
• Efficient continuous duty bathroom exhaust fans
• Increased public lighting efficiency
• Lo-E window glazing
• Low-flow toilets and showerheads
