Community Gatherings
Hope has a long history of building community through cultural and community gatherings.
From small social events between tenants and neighbors to large multicultural festivals, these events are designed as opportunities for people to meet each other, learn about each others’ culture and traditions, celebrate what makes them unique, and work together on the many things they have in common. They are public statements that recognize culture, diversity, and community. Annual events include:
- Black History Celebration
- Summer Social
- National Night Out in August
- Winter Festival
- Other community and cultural celebrations
COMMUNITY ART
Art has become a central part of Hope’s Community Engagement work.
Community Art Projects are avenues for youth and adults alike to meet artists who serve as role models, teachers, story tellers, and guides to a world that values their creative and expressive talents. Through all these experiences, youth learn important basic skills. Adult and youth participants develop relationships with one another as they plan and work together. They “give back” to the community through their talents, their teaching skills, and their presentation of artistic creations to the community.
