English Language Learning (ELL) Program
Saturday Morning ELL Program
Adult students are tested when they register and work at home with instruction at their level on videotape and in workbooks. They return to Hope weekly and work one-to-one with tutors trained by the Minnesota Literacy Council. As they develop English competency they are given new tapes and worksheets. We began offering math on Saturday mornings at the students’ request. A professional teacher has now developed math curriculum for English learners. Students in the program are from Somalia, Ethiopia, Togo, Liberia, Sudan and South American countries. Currently 70 students are registered.
