The Jourdain Apartments

“It’s a beautiful building full of families. If you were to look at it, you’d assume it’s high-rent.” –Patrick Bayle, one of the first tenants to move into The Jourdain

In Honor of Winnie Jourdain

The Jourdain building is named after Winnie Jourdain, a Native American woman who had been a neighborhood and city leader. In 2000, a group of Hope Community staff traveled to the White Earth Indian Reservation to meet with Winnie about selling land she owned on Franklin Avenue so we could develop affordable housing.

The Jourdain is part of the Franklin Portland Gateway project, a partnership with Aeon and Hope Community to transform a vital urban intersection into rental options ranging from small studios to three-bedroom units. Two-thirds of the 41 units are affordable. There is neighborhood commercial space on the street level.
