David Wellstone Helps to Celebrate the Grand Opening of The Wellstone
“My parents would be especially proud of what’s been created here for families,” said David Wellstone, son of Senator Paul Wellstone, as he helped Hope Community and partner Aeon celebrate the grand opening of The Wellstone apartments.
The Wellstone is a building for the future. The building has the largest commercial solar water system in the state of Minnesota. Three different rain gardens manage storm water, and energy efficient lighting and appliances save energy. Into the future Hope will collect data about the green features to share with other developers across the country.
The gathering both celebrated the grand opening of The Wellstone and generated excitement for the fourth and final phase of The Franklin Portland Gateway Project which is rebuilding all four corners of a long-abandoned intersection in the Phillips neighborhood.
We are grateful to the many partners and funders that helped to make The Wellstone a reality. All the green sustainable features integrated into the Wellstone building were privately funded.
